TNS Provide the Perfect Picture for Picturehouse Cinemas


Background

Picturehouse Cinemas, founded in 1989, is the UK’s largest independent cinema group. In 2008, the company acquired Newman Online, a web based box office system and management solution for cinemas.

Business Challenge
The organisation was in need of a system that would provide a complete multi-channel solution for its credit card transaction processing needs. It was looking for a multi-faceted solution that could begin as a front end application with Newman Online and ultimately support various end users located at point of sale terminals in the 18 Picturehouse cinemas and nine other cinemas across the UK that use the Newman system.

Solution

Picturehouse Cinemas and Newman Online now uses the TNSPay Payment Gateway service alongside its retail payment client, providing a Chip and PIN application for POS terminals. TNS also assists with membership transactions, such as telephone ticket sales, and an e-commerce system for web bookings.

The TNSPay retail client is designed to work solely with VeriFone Chip and PIN entry devices. For authorisation and settlement, the client interfaces with TNSPay, TNS’ hosted payment solution, to form an end-to-end processing solution for credit and debit card transactions.
