Dan Dooley has been named President and General Manager of the Telecommunication Services Division (TSD) of Transaction Network Services, Inc. (NYSE:TNS).
Dooley joins TNS from Sprint Nextel after 14 years. In his most recent role as President - Wholesale Solutions, a $2B business unit of Sprint, Dooley and his team implemented several industry leading innovations. Dooley has also held various other senior leadership roles at Sprint in International, Wireline and Strategic Sales Solutions.
Prior to Sprint, he spent eight years with AT&T, performing various leadership roles including Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa with AT&T’s Communications Services Division. Dooley has earned a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In the most recent issue of the Global Telecoms Business Power100, Dan was named 27th most powerful person in the telecommunications industry worldwide.
In welcoming Mr. Dooley, Henry H Graham Jr., TNS CEO, said: “This is a crucial role in the company, so we didn’t rush into making an appointment and are confident we’ve found the right person. Dan’s impressive track record in relevant areas over an extended period shows he can make adept strategic decisions and execute. We have been investing heavily in our telecommunications platform and I am confident in Dan’s ability to produce results.”
Mr. Dooley commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining TNS, whose Telecommunication Services Division is quickly becoming a significant and meaningful partner in the telecommunications industry. TNS has built a solid reputation on trust and given its recent acquisitions and emerging product portfolio, TNS is positioned for further growth. I am very excited to be a part of this company and look forward to helping shape the direction of TNS for years to come.”
TNS has provided signaling, validation and fraud control, database, roaming, carrier ENUM, VoIP, and messaging services to fixed, mobile, broadband and VOIP operators around the world since 1990. The company acquired the Communication Services Group, a leading intelligent database service provider to the telecommunications industry, from VeriSign, Inc. in May, 2009. In October 2010, TNS purchased Cequint, Inc., a top carrier-grade caller ID product and enhanced service supplier to US-based mobile operators.
Mr. Dooley’s appointment means Mike Keegan, who headed TSD on an interim basis, now reverts full-time to his role as the Chief Operating Officer of TNS.
